Women’s Bureau of Sri Lanka

To become the National Institutaion which creates a generation of prudent, Sensitive and faithful women for Sri Lanka Society.

To support nation building by empowering women across all strata to become useful and productive citizens who realise their full potential.

To advocate and support women's wellbeing aligned with state policy through social and economic empowerment and build an organizational framework to create and sustain a society which supports women across all domains to thrive, advance and grow in a holistic manner.

COUNSELLING SERVICES

Counselling services are provided to a range of clients with issues ranging from lack of problem solving, coping, stress management and dispute resolution skills to critical issues such as exposure to trauma and violence 

CAPACITY BUILDING

Capacity building for officials both from the ministry and the volunteer cadre is ongoing to order to ensure 

TRAINING

Training of Trainers is conducted at district level along with training for volunteers/youth etc. who want a) train as professional counsellors b) support their respective communities 

Who we are

Conducts programs under the key areas of empowering Women Headed Families economically and socially, preventing Gender-Based Violence and creating equality.

Objectives

  • Identify, design, implement and evaluate programmes for economic and social empowerment of Sri Lankan women.
  • Support women across all strata to become stakeholders in the country's development.
  • Implement programs to overcome gender based constraints faced by women.
  • Implement special programs for women who face numerous difficulties owing to social constraints.
  • Implement programs to upgrade knowledge, skills and attitudes of women.
  • Organise women in a single network ranging from community level to national level and facilitate their smooth functioning in the same.
